AIPA NEWS: NOVEMBER 2007

What a week it was! For all those who couldn’t make it to Headspace 07 you missed out on a great show. I’m happy to say that the exhibition was a resounding success. 59 photographers from the AIPA turned out to show where their headspace is at, and the room was filled on opening night by well over 500 clients and friends. The launch event was great fun with everybody enjoying some fine tunes courtesy of George FM DJ’s and consuming copious amounts of Epic beer, Man ‘O War wine and 26,000 Vodka cocktails!

Over the following week Headspace 07 was visited by over 450 people with the accompanying website receiving 2000 hits per day. The auction and the show closed on Friday the 12 th of October with numerous pieces being sold.

You can still view most of the work that was exhibited at www.headspace07.co.nz. If you see any work you would like to purchase you can get in touch with the photographer directly via the email address listed on the site.

The Headspace exhibition flowed on nicely from the Workspace book we released earlier this year. Our vision is to alternate these two major AIPA projects from year to year. In this way we aim to continually market our membership to prospective clients throughout the creative sector. When it comes to promoting commercial photographers to the people who matter (i.e. art directors, designers, publishers, editors, agents, and the like) no other association comes close!

Organising an event like Headspace takes an enormous amount of time and energy from a whole team of dedicated volunteers. I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank everyone who helped bring this event to life.

The AIPA is going from strength to strength and with our membership growing all the time we look forward to bringing even more initiatives like Headspace and Workspace to the attention of both the local and international photographic community.
