AIPA NEWS: MARCH 2006
Over the last few years the AIPA executive has been working hard to bring more benefits to our membership – more ‘bang for your buck’ so to speak. 2005 saw the addition of several new benefits including the introduction of the AIPA Members card, supplier discounts, free subscriptions to Capture magazine and The Working Pro newsletter and the ever expanding AIPA website and resource library.
This month I am pleased to announce two more membership benefits. The AIPA is now an authorised Adobe Software reseller, which means we can sell Adobe products to our members very competitively, well below the Recommended Retail Price. Secondly, thanks to the substantial efforts of Rod White at C & G Rothbury we now have the ‘AIPA / NZIPP Photographers Insurance Scheme’ which offers members of both associations the opportunity to purchase an insurance package tailored specifically to photographers’ needs, for a great price.
At present the actual dollar value of all of the membership benefits far exceeds our annual subscription fees. Joining the AIPA is not only an excellent way to show support for the industry but also an astute business decision. We have seen a 20% growth in our membership numbers in the last year and I’m confident that this trend will continue.
At the moment the AIPA executive is refocusing its attention on events and marketing. Along with the tried and true methods that have succeeded in the past (such as the Workspace promo book) we are also investigating new ways of promoting AIPA members to our target audience – art directors, editors, graphic designers, and other creatives in the media industry.
As we head towards the conclusion of another financial year, the rest of 2006 is shaping up to be a very busy and exciting time for the AIPA. If only we could get our ever expanding membership to volunteer just a little more of their time…
