INDUSTRY NEWS Production begins on WORKSPACE 08 Workspace is New Zealand’s only commercial photography sourcebook and as such it represents a unique promotional opportunity for both photographers and suppliers. Published locally in association with GEON, Workspace sourcebooks feature clean, contemporary design and exceptional print quality. The last edition (see photos below) won both a gold medal and the sheet fed category at the 2007 Pride in Print Awards.
Over 1000 copies of Workspace 08 will be distributed to art directors, graphic designers, magazine editors, book publishers, tertiary institutions, model agencies and professional photographers nationwide. A limited number will also be made available for purchase by the general public. Of course, as with the previous two editions, the upcoming volume will showcase a wide range of stunning imagery by New Zealand’s leading advertising and editorial photographers. AIPA full and emerging members who would like to have their work featured in Workspace 08 can download the booking form. Non-member professional photographers are welcome to apply for AIPA membership now as there is still time to join before bookings close. Photographic suppliers wishing to advertise in Workspace can email info@aipa.org.nz for further information. Note that page numbers are strictly limited and the next edition of Workspace will not be published until at least 2010, so any photographic business seeking inclusion in this outstanding photo industry sourcebook should act now to avoid dissappointment. Canon raises the stakes in the professional photography market with the launch of the 21 Megapixel, 5 frame per second EOS-1Ds Mark III. Delivering 14-bit depth resolution from a newly developed 35mm full frame CMOS sensor, Canon’s new flagship digital SLR produces files that convert to over 100MB uncompressed 16-bit TIFF, setting a new benchmark in image resolution and sharpness for 35mm-format digital photography. As well as producing outstanding colour rendition, Dual DIGIC III processors drive 5 fps continuous shooting for up to 56 Large JPEGs (12 RAW) – unrivalled by any other camera at this resolution. “Taking image quality and versatility to unprecedented levels, the EOS-1Ds Mark III redefines commercial photography conventions”, said Karz Suzuki, Head of Canon Professional Services. “The camera will strengthen Canon’s popularity amongst professional studio photographers. Culminating 20 years of EOS development, the EOS-1Ds Mark III represents a definitive moment in our company’s photographic history.” www.canon.co.nz |
